Sheep atop Kinder Scout, Peak District National PArk, Derbyshire, England, UK

Back to the summer! This is the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire in England. It is said that this is the second most visited national park in the world! But it’s always easy to find places that are emmpty of people. This is on top of the Kinder Plateau and I am standing on the Pennine Way walking track. The few hours that I was up here taking photos I saw more sheep than people!

I have been here a few times over the last few years, and even though there is a campsite just down the bottom of the plateau which is always packed in summer, there never seems to be too many people.

  • Superb view over the lovely landscape! I love every part of it and especially that sheep.

  • grand view. love the moody clouds. the sheep simply completes the image

  • this is absolutely fantastic! what a mesmerising landscape!
i’ve just added it to my list of “must see” places for one my future visits to the UK … 😉

    • Thankyou Franz! Yes the Peak District is a beautiful place. And just down the road is the city of Manchester….that’s the amazing thing in the UK, you can be in the heart of a city one minute and just round the corner is a place like this…!

  • Spectacular scene, Tony. The blue/grey tones are lovely and give the image a special, almost magical feel.

  • martine burrell says:

stunning image, love the subdued palette

  • To me the sheep captures the feeling of the image. I love the tones, the ruggedness and the processing.

  • Splendide paysage, ce mouton semble être sur le toit du monde. Magnifique cliché. Bonne soirée.

  • Stunning view that you’ve captured from this plateau!! I love the incorporation of the sheep here which helps establish the grand scale captured here.

    • Thanks very much!! Every now and then a sheep will always turn up, and they are always good to photograph. But sometimes they creep up behind you and baah at you. That makes you jump, and then the sheep runs away!!

  • Une si vaste étendue avec un seul mouton. C’est en effet le grand calme. Ta photo est magnifique Tony

  • The subtle and rich tones in this image are lovely. I am continually amazed at how beautiful the landscape is in the UK. Your processing is wonderful!

    • Thankyou for your comments!! Yes, the UK is always picturesque wherever you go….it’s the hedgerows and countrylanes…and then every now and then, a national park like this.
