New Forest at dawn.

Words/Photographs: Tony Eveling

The New Forest is heathland and forest, which explains the lack of trees in this photograph. This small pond is close to a part of the forest called ‘smugglers cove’. I was there at dawn and wondered what kind of stories had unfolded around here over the centuries.

Also, the New Forest is not new, but it was once upon a time, about a thousand years ago. And the name has just sort of stuck.

As for this photograph, it’s just a simple composition taken early morning as the Sun came up.
