This was Swanage Bay at dusk. Taken at the opposite end of the day to the photo I posted a couple of days ago of the lone boat in the morning, although the colour is nearly identical. The Sun was below the horizon so there wasn’t much light left, and this is slightly over exposed to lighten it up a bit.

I liked the hill on the horizon on the right side as it added a bit of curvy interest along an otherwise ordinary straight line. I loved the calmness of the sea and the cooling of the air. This is a ten second exposure, enough to smooth out the ripples on the surface of the sea, not that there was much as it was so calm.

  • What rendering great, the light is very soft and very beautiful !

  • These blue tones are just incredibly beautiful! This is my favourite of the last 3 images: it’s simply fabulous.

  • Quel sublime endroit ! La lumière à cet instant est magique …..

  • Beautifully composed and captured as the shoreline wraps around! The choice of shutter speed really smooths out the sea’s waves, making this appear like a very tranquil place to be and relax.

  • Your description covered most of what i was about to say about this wonderful image… taken at the blue hour Tony… well done….peter:)

  • Elaine Hancock says:

Beautiful image. I like just the hint of color in the sky and the very calm water. Wonderful!

  • I enjoyed your photos. Thanks for the like of my post “Sweetness Check”.

  • It is a nice moment even without the sunlight. A pretty view !
