Tourists and umbrellas in Dubrovnik old town, Croatia

I don’t know why, but whenever I get to somewhere new and I won’t be hanging around for long, my instincts always hope for good weather. In reality, it doesn’t matter what the weather is because there will always be photos to be had.

This location is the Placa which is the main street in Dubrovnik old town in Croatia, and the weather was a bit wet and dreary for a couple of days. So I plonked the tripod down and hung around snapping people with umbrellas.

These are single picture HDR’s, processed in NIK softwares HDR efex Pro. I quite like the look. Better I think than I could have achieved just using Photoshop.

  • very appealing results of your HDR photography … and very beautiful places, too.
you’re right, of course, good weather is nice, but a good photographer can live with any kind of weather … 😉

  • nice clean looking couple of shots here. great exposures

  • I like it when HDRs don’t look like HDRs, exactly like these shots. Nice contrasts and natural colours here, and none of the unnatural-looking halos commonly found in HDRs. Nice work.

  • Both are excellent shots, but I REALLY like that second one with the composition between the buildings. Superb!

  • Beautiful processing, not too hard. Good compo, i particulary like the right one.

  • j’ai une grosse préférence pour la deux ! Bonne journée

  • Deux superbes photos!!! j’adore++++ les reflets au sol de la photo à droite!!! Bravo!

  • Two wonderful shots. The composition and that blast of red makes the left one my favourite.

  • A lovely pair of shots. You are right about the weather. The clouds often smooth out the light nicely.

  • Splendides clichés, superbes reflets sur les pavés. Le traitement est excellent. Bonne journée.
